When I decided to name this series Space, at first it was because the work seems to share an ethereal, mystical energy. Some of the pieces remind me of floating freely in space, perfectly content, observing everything around with wonder and awe. Upon further thought, I expanded the notion of space to wherever one is—tethered to the realities of life one moment, dreaming of exciting possibilities the next.
I enjoy creating magical, ethereal places where the imagination can roam free. I juxtapose familiar and unfamiliar, mixing up notions of real and imagined spaces. I suggest a narrative, but leave plenty of room for people to invent their own stories. When this happens—when different people have wildly different stories to tell about the same piece, I consider my work successful.
